Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

Just a four-hour flight from Manila and you will arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the gateway to Malaysia, a federal constitutional monarchy located in Southeast Asia. Their airport is one of the major airports in South East Asia so best to ask the airport staff for directions to save you time and energy. Best always to get a map at the airport so you can plan ahead on which places to visit first.

Kuala Lumpur is one of the easiest country to visit because of their Hop On Hop Off Bus Tours. The bus goes around KL and stops in almost every tourist spot in the city. What we did was we bought a ticket good for 2 days on the bus ticketing office which is just a walking distance from our hotel. If you can't buy one, don't worry because all you need to do is hop on one of their buses and buy the ticket from the driver or driver's assistant. If the weather is fine best to sit at the upper deck of the bus for you to enjoy the view more. Make sure you grab a city map from inside the bus so you will know where to go first and where the drop-off points are.

Two days tour with the bus is enough for you to visit all of the city's key destinations with ample amount of time at each location to take pictures.

My travel isn't complete without checking out a roller coaster that's why on our first day we went to Berjaya Times Square, which has the second largest indoor theme park in Asia, to check their roller coaster. Heads up! The fee is pricey so if you are on a budget just take photos outside. Anyway you can pretty much see everything from inside the mall.

KL is also a nice place to shop because of the reasonable prices or you are not very particular about brands or, in my case, statement shirts. You will find a wide variety of statement shirts here that you will enjoy and a lot of stuff that will capture your interest.

Tiny Tipei is a portion inside the mall with Taipei-inspired decor with plenty of cool shops to visit.

You can also find desserts and pastries for those who have a sweet tooth.

After exploring the mall, we went outside for some walk to explore the city and check out some street food.

KL uses the Monorail and MRT as their primary mode of transportation.

National Museum or Muzium Negara
After our first day, we woke up early to catch the first Hop on Hop off bus. We went to the National Museum which is the first stop of our bus located at Jalan Damansara near Perdana Lake. It provides an overview of Malaysian history and culture.

National Palace or Istana Negara
After we visited the National Museum we went to our next stop which is the National Palace.  Just like the Buckingham Palace, you will know if the King or Queen is inside if the flag in the middle is up. And guards here also wear similar uniform with the guards of Buckingham Palace. You will be given plenty of time to go down and take pictures but be sure to go back before the bus leave because the location of this is far from public transportations so you will have to wait for the next bus under the sun if you miss your bus.

National Monument
After taking pictures we headed back to the bus and went to our next destination which is the National Monument. It is a sculpture that commemorates those who died in Malaysia's struggle for freedom, principally against the Japanese occupation during World War II and the Malayan Emergency.

Merdeka Square or Independence Square
Situated in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. It was here where the Union Flag was lowered and the Malayan flag hoisted for the first time at midnight on August 31, 1957. You will find here the 100 meter high flagpole, marking the spot where the Malayan Flag was hoisted on August 31, 1957 signifying the independence of the country from British rule.

Petronas Tower
After taking some pictures we waited for the next Hop On bus to arrive and proceeded to the most famous tourist spot in KL which is the Petronas Twin Towers. I admit when I saw the tower I was so amazed by it. I thought it's just an ordinary building but when we were heading towards the Petronas and as soon as I stood in front of it, it gave me a star-struck feeling. Lol! If you will visit this I suggest you visit both during the day time and night time.  That way you will have both view or go there around 5pm so there's not much sunlight anymore good for taking pictures then grab a dinner inside Petronas and come out when the building lights are on.

Inside the tower you will find different choices of food, might as well take the opportunity to try Malaysian cuisine like Nasi Lemak and Popiah which is very delicious and reasonably priced at the food court of KLCC Suria Mall below the Petronas Tower.

KL Tower
A tall tower located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Its construction was completed on 1 March 1995. It is used for communication purposes and features an antenna that reaches 421 metres. Instead of paying too much on Petronas Tower to go up the bridge and get a better view of the city for only a few minutes, I suggest you go here, price is affordable and view is the same or even better.

Malaysia Cultural Village
When you go to KL Tower you will pass by this cultural display before you reach the entrance of the KL Tower so we took our time to take pictures. Heheh!

Central Market
The following morning we went to the Central Market to buy some souvenirs.  The market opens at 10am and closes at 10pm. You will find a wide variety of souvenirs and goods here, especially my favorite chocolate brand Alfredo. Their tiramisu-flavored variant is one of the best tasting chocolate I have tried.

National Mosque
After we visited central market we went to National Mosque just to take pictures since we have plenty of time to visit almost all of the stop of Hop On Hop Off bus tour.

Aquaria
Aquaria KLCC is a world-class aquarium that showcases animals & marine life from Malaysia and around the world. It is located beneath the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre within Kuala Lumpur City Centre development precinct. Since Petronas Tower is just a walking distance to Aquaria, we went to Aquaria around 6pm so by the time we are done in Aquaria we can go straight to Petronas Tower to get a view of the tower at night time when all the lights are on.

After the hop on hop off bus tour we grabbed a private tour going to Batu Cave because it is not included on the hop on hop off bus tour so you have to arrange a private tour, most private tours include other destinations so feel free to customized your own private tour. We chose Batu Cave, Chocolate factory and Pewter Factory.

Batu Cave
Is a limestone hill that has a series of caves and cave temples in the Gombak district, 13 kilometres north of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It takes its name from the Sungai Batu or Batu River, which flows past the hill. A visit here is definitely worth the private tour so I suggest you give this place a visit.

After this private tour we spent our time walking around the city and checking out the malls and trying out different food. Went back to our hotel to rest, prepared our luggage for our flight the following day

Another journey has been made, new culture has been learned and new experiences opened my mind. My visit to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia was an amazing experience that is worth every sweat and tiring walk. A journey I will treasure and an experience I will never forget.

SEE YOU ON MY NEXT BOARDING PASS!
