Cebu Philippines

Also known as the Queen City of the South, a 45 minutes flight from manila to Cebu International Airport and you will experience the warm hospitality of the Cebuanos. If you will ask me Cebu is like Manila too but better. Less traffic, less crime and more friendly people. As soon as you arrive in Cebu you may want to get a private van tour for a reasonable price. Just like in Bohol, the driver will pick you up at your hotel and will take you from which ever destination package you choose from. Try to bargain for the price or include extra destinations for free.

I have to commend Hotel Pier Cuatro the hotel we stayed in for a night. I forgot my wallet at the cafe but none of the staff took advantage of it. I only noticed it when we are already back inside our room. They also have a great breakfast buffet so I suggest you consider this hotel near the port of Cebu especially if you are planning to head to Bohol via ferry.

Basilica del Sto. Niño
When visiting Sto. Niño church might as well attend the mass. This is one of the most famous historical and religious destination in Cebu also considered as the oldest religious relic in the Philippines. Outside the church you will see women wearing yellow skirts, they sell candles and will offer prayers for your intentions.

Magellan's Cross
Next to the church is the Magellan's Cross, a Christian cross planted by Portuguese, and Spanish explorers as ordered by Ferdinand Magellan upon arriving in Cebu in the Philippines on March 15, 1521. One of the famous landmarks of Cebu.

Lapu Lapu Shrine
The Lapu-Lapu shrine is a 20 metres bronze statue in Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, Philippines, erected in honor of Lapu-Lapu, a native leader who defeated Spanish soldiers led by the Portuguese.

You will see plenty of souveniers ouside the shrine, for foods like dried mangoes don't buy yet. You'll know why later on this blog.

After some historical sites it is Lunch time, and I recommend you try eating your lunch at BOOSOG Restaurant. It is a homegrown Cebuano restaurant specializing in authentic Filipino and lutong bahay dishes at unbeatable prices. Located at The Gallery in Mabolo, Cebu City. One of the best tasting Ginisang Monggo I have ever tried quit frankly it exceeded my mom's cooking hehehe I hope my mom won't get to read this hahaha!

As soon as we filled our stomach with mouthwatering food, we went back on tour and go straight to other destinations.

Alegre Guitar Factory
Cebu is also famous for their guitars, you will see a lot of guitar vendors when you are on the streets of Cebu might as well visit a factory for you to see how they make it from scratch. If you are a guitar fan this trip is a must.

Plantation Bay
Plantation Bay offers one of the largest privately-owned waterways in the world, with the clean elegance of colonial-plantation architecture. Also one of the most famous resort and travel destination in Cebu. If you are on a budget an over night stay will do for you to experience the quality service and amenities they can offer.

Cebu Taoist Temple
Built in 1972, the Cebu Taoist Temple is located in Beverly Hills Subdivision in Cebu City, Philippines. The temple was built by Cebu's substantial Chinese community. With an elevation of 300 metres (980 ft) above sea level, the temple is a towering, multi-tiered, multi-hued attraction accessible by three separate winding routes.

Rain forest Park
A well-thought unique concepts that encloses an inspired mix of entertainment, adventure, leisure, educational, dining and unwinding for the entire family. Located at F. Cabahug St. (Ayala Access Road) Panagda-it Mabolo, Cebu City where one and a family can relax and at peace while enjoying the serenity, atomosphere and natural beauty of nature.

Fort San Pedro
Fort San Pedro or Fuerza de San Pedro is a military defence structure, built by Spanish and indigenous Cebuano labourers under the command of Spanish conquistador, Miguel López de Legazpi and the Spanish Government in Cebu.

Pro Foods Factory
Like I said don't buy dried mangoes yet because you have to include this on one of your destination, just tell the driver that you want to visit pro foods factory to buy some dried mangoes and other Filipino candies and you will definitely get a wholesale price inside the factory's store.

After a day of sight seeing we went to Tops which is an overlooking venue for sight seeing especially at night to see the city lights, but if you will ask me it's not that ideal place to visit at especially at night because it is very dark in the area I needed to use my mobile phone as flashlight because I could not see where I'm stepping plus not much restaurant to have a romantic dinner, so for me visiting the Sky Experience is better.

Larsian
Larsian is a bazaar of eateries that's the perfect place to experience Cebu's best barbecue. If you are familiar with Dampa in Manila this is similar where in you can pick your food and the will cook it for you. Prices are so affordable so prepare for barbeque battle.

Zubuchon
Your Cebu trip is not complete without trying the one of the specialty of Cebu which is Lechon (roasted pig) and this restaurant is very famous for their Lechon Cebu. For a reasonable price you will experience their lechon plus I recommend you try their Kamias Shake to compliment the food. You have to watch your cholesterol though you might forgot your hypertension once you tried it hehehe! Also if you are planning to bring home their lechon, they have a store in Cebu Airport which offer lechon per killo already packed for plane hand cary.
